Winter Wonderland
Many people think, “Oh, Turkey, the weather is almost always nice there. It’s a sun-sea-beach holiday destination.” But here in Cappadocia (central Turkey), just like in the Netherlands (where I’m from), we have four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and now winter. This year, winter has arrived early, earlier than in previous years. And it gets pretty cold here! Last night, the temperature dropped to -10 degrees Celsius. Today, the maximum will be 5 degrees Celsius. Still, the sun is shining, you can go hot-air ballooning even in winter, and the temperature will rise slightly again next week. Just an hour away from us, there is a ski resort where you can enjoy skiing from December to April. On Mount Erciyes, a mountain that is 4,300 meters high. Before we know it, spring will be here again. But for now, let’s enjoy the snow and the crisp weather.
